HISTORY :
In 1995, Markus Toivonen, Sauli Savolainen and Kimmo Miettinen founded Ensiferum that means "sword bearer". They started as a cover band and then, Jari Mäenpää joined the next year so the band started to compose songs. Jari parts ways with the band sometimes after the second album in 2004 due to his new band project "Wintersun" and Petri Lindroos replaced him then. Several line-up change in the band and today, Markus Toivonen appears like the only founding member left in Ensiferum.
