HELLEBAARD Fier album reviewed

1. Hellebaard

The intro of the song sounds like some thunders with the crunchy distortions & the big beats, the synth joins the troop then followed by a cleaner drums after. Now everyone's here, the singing can start. good voice. Seems like something serious gonna happen. Drums is heavy. It goes more & more fast until everyone stops, then go on slowers strong beats but the synth is still around & invite to the march, hellebard in hands.

The distortions instr found a little way joining the troop & is now well present (thx the mix option) then everyones here again & 3rd part could start.There is a certain rage & pression there. The riffs sound rather easy. I didn't try on guitar but guess i could find it easily.

But thats a nice track and their sound is good too & proper to the band. Never you'll find & feel same thing if you listen to some other bands. its particular sound. Let yrself enter in their world, you'll see its beautiful. And this song is a nice one introducing the cd.

2. Vleugels van Vuur

Instr are fast on the begining then calm down step by step for each parts of the song (like a circle). Otherwise, I'd wish the first beats on the intro mastered. Not a big deal tho. Seems like they're not joking the synth could be better on chorus because when you're into hellebaard its ok but when you're discovering them Im sorry to admit (@Zar) thats not the best song for a discover & rather that song above then but on that chorus, drums insist on something. Guitar solo is kool and that other isntr after remind me same thing as for qntal-translucida album maybe (?) but what song? ...mystery.but drums at this step is pretty nice and then, verse chorus and end.

3. Bloedbroeders

Clean guitar. sounds like a E minor - am I wrong? ...but minor = sadness most often like here it seems to be anyway. For drums, when a medieval band? XD could go fine. Disto is here now & makes drums speak direct to you like a boss. the clean sounds are away but synth is scary too. well one good atmosphere XD synth is kool at 2.54 & amaze, followed by the guitar next.then the kool singing is back.Verses & chorus are a certain heavy weight.

4. De Eeuwige Strijdvelden

Synth introduces for some seconds the song like sending a call. Simple good nervous & distorted riffs & kool heavy drums.Then the singer tells its story... 2.14 about, the drummer seems how to say ..angry, a fight with the guitar maybe? Oo vocals too. Back to normal but the rage comes back after...too. Another track coming to the end of the song, sounding like apocalypse, with other instr. but where the drums taking a big part in it too. all in all, one full enjoyment, I guess! ....for the band. Or well, it seems like that. :-)

 5. Verborgen Stad

I start the song and whats in my mind? "one angry band!" The drums is very pleasant in their stuff.and some tiny but good ideas too. Hope you enjoy bands like Summoning.or Bathory even. - 2 Great bands!

6. Ravenklauw

good under the whole song. these riffs are pretty kool & make you easily headbanging fast! The drums invites you to do it too! 3.04 instr are... damn dark but then guitar is speaking to you until drums and everything speak all together.

7. Fier

Dear Metalheads, .......HEADBANG !!! impossible to resist! One awesome song again. Instruments are very nice, good riffs, heavy beats...well, all the good elements.

8. Letum

The end of the album like the end of life... Indeed it reflects well the title. Dark stuff where the synth is the main part.

To conclude :

Well, that review is funny, i started bigger then becomes more little going to the end.. lol. Maybe cuz i'm tired ? Well longtime i wanted to make it but I could not before..../

Now about "Fier", Its my favorite album. I didn't like their very first but after that one, on next albums, sounds and stuff were in & thats what i pretty like about them : That special sound & atmosphere.... Not every band gets one proper to their music. These guys are only two and do everything in the band. Some ideas were added here beside the previous albums. they are little or maybe you can't see them at first i meant but important they are. The band developed pretty fine over the years and I guess it will some more in the future. Guitars sounds like depressive black soemtimes but its far from shining & stuff... Their music is more inspired by Bathory and Summoning for me. Drums sound kinda medieval-ish sometimes.Their music is heavy and things go well together. Well, have a try. Fier is a great album to be listened!
