Friends, the time has come to unveil “SACRED GROVE”, the second single from our forthcoming album “Folktales” - a journey into forgotten times and ancient forests! 🌳🌳🌳 Since ancient times, sacred groves have played a significant part in the religious tradition of the Baltic peoples. A sacred grove was a wild, dense forest that served as nature's temple for worshipping pagan gods or commemorating deceased ancestors. As a rule, it was forbidden to cut trees, hunt, or even stroll through these places, as it might offend the deities. Numerous stories exist of trespassers who disregarded these prohibitions and soon experienced supernatural punishment, such as illness or an accident. At specific times, sacred groves were used for rituals and various religious practices honoring gods and ancestors. Several sacred groves still remain in Latvia, with the Ķoniņciems Elku grove in Kuldīga municipality being the most well-known.

SKYFORGER unveiled their new video "Dieva suns" (Hound of God) taken from their upcoming album "Teikas" (Folktales) set to be released in May 2025. The song is based on actual events that took place more than 333 years ago in the Vidzeme region of Livonia (Latvia). In the 1600’s, the land of Livonia had gained the notoriety of the most werewolf-rich region of Europe. In 1691, a local court convened to hear a case involving robbery from a church in the Zaube village. During the trial, an 86-year-old peasant Thiess of Kaltenbrun was called as a witness, who suddenly confessed having been a werewolf for many years. The court quickly established that the old man Thiess was fully mentally competent. When asked how exactly he had become a werewolf, Thiess explained that some years ago, he had accepted a bewitched drink from a man from Alūksne. Anyone who would drink from a cursed mug, would then transform into a wolf, while the ex-werewolf was freed from his supernatural ...

SKYFORGER unveiled their new official video for the song  "Melnās buras" (The Black Sails) taken from their album " Senprūsija " (Old Prussia) out since April 2015. The band said :  It transports you back into the dark times of the Great Northern War (1700-1721), when the plague reigned over coasts of the Baltic Sea, where it killed about a third of the Prussian population. Unfortunately, it also took the last native speakers of the Old Prussian language and those who still kept the old ways alive. It can be said that after the plague, the Old Prussians had ceased to exist as a nation..

The 6th track from the new SKYFORGER album "Senprūsija (Old Prussia)" is now revealed to the world. Listen the song "Rāmava" (Romuve) here: Next monday will be available the new record.

The fourth track from the forthcoming SKYFORGER album entitled " Senprūsija " (Old Prussia) is revealed as one first single of the record. Below is  Tagad vai nekad track which means "Now or Never". The song tells about the Great Prussian uprising in 1260 - 1274, when the Prussian tribes almost succeeded in driving the Order of Teutonic Knights out of Prussia. However, due to the continuous influx of fresh manpower from Europe and many European leaders joining the conflict, the uprising was suppressed and the Prussians had to once again yield the Teutonic Order. "The next SKYFORGER album will be dedicated to the Prussians, the now extinct third Baltic nation. For us Latvians and Lithuanians, the two remaining Baltic nations, it is very important not to forget this part of our common history and that is why we made this album. (Note: the Germans, who conquered Prussia, also started to call themselves Prussians; however, they had nothing in common with the actual Baltic people of ancient Prussia)" , Peter said. The album titled "Senprūsija" (Old Prussia) made of 12 tracks will be released on April 6th by Thunderforge Records. The idea behind the album's cover art is that there is nothing left of Old Prussians, except some bones found in archaeological sites and a few other artefacts, while the rest is lost into the darkness of past.
