HISTORY :
Folkearth is an international studio project that has no Political or Religious intents.

It was established in 2003 as a music forum made up with 14 folk and metal musicians from several countries in the world. The countries initially were Sweden, Greece, England, Switzerland, Austria and Lithuania.

In 2004 the first album titled "A Nordic Poem" was released. This unique worldwide collaboration featured 14 members from bands such as Yggdrasil, Forefather, Dol Amroth, Uruk Hai and Eluveitie. All of the involved musicians offered up traditional instrument recordings which were edited and mixed with heavy metal sounds, hence providing the listener with the most unique folk metal atmospheres ever recorded.

Long time after the first Folkearth's release, during the summer of 2006, the second album titled "By The Sword Of My Father" was out. It consisted in more than 70 minutes of melodic folk/viking metal, also featuring a cover of the Falkenbach's song "Heathenpride". The sound quality, compared to the previous album, was improved. Diverse real instruments such as tin whistle, bagpipes, violin, etc. were used. Many new musicians from bands such as Death Army, The Soil Bleeds Black, Thiasos Dionysos, Van Langen and Hildr Valkyrie, who joined the band meanwhile, took part in it. Therefore, the line-up raised up to 31 musicians from 8 countries (Austria, England, Germany, Greece, Italy/North Italy, Lithuania, Sweden and USA.).

The third album "Drakkars In The Mist" was released on the 28th of May 2007. Other musicians from bands such as Vetter, Hordak, Peordh, Winter's Dawn, Trymheim, Thulr, Sacred Blood and Pagan Reign joined the band, which, after the dropouts of some other musicians, in the end counted 30 members from 11 countries (Belgium, Croatia, Germany, Greece, Lithuania, North Italy, Norway, Russia, Spain, Sweden and USA).

2008 was a very fruitful year for Folkearth...

The fourth album "Father Of Victory" was released on the 21st of Januray and featured 20 musicians from bands such as Frekkr, Annwn, Oakhelm, The Raven, Valuatir. This led to the appearance of France and Wales as contributing countries.

The fifth and first acoustic album "Songs Of Yore" was released in June and featured 18 musicians and two new countries such as Portugal and Canada.

The sixth album "Fatherland" was released in the end of the same year, featuring the Swiss band Sunuthar. The band counted at that time 12 members from 7 countries.

The seventh album "Rulers Of The Sea" was released in October 2009.
13 musicians from 9 countries took part in it and Monaco, Australia, Argentina entered the ship of Folkearth. Some of the new members were from bands such as Black Knight Symphonia and Skiltron. In this album there also was the great guest appearance of the lovely lady Ally from Haggard.

The eighth album "Viking's Anthem" was released in June 2010. The number of the musicians was 13 and they belonged to bands such as Vroudenspil, Minhyriath, Dämmerfarben and Black Shore.

The ninth album "Sons Of The North" was released on the 12th of March 2011. The line-up counted 16 musicians from 10 countries. It brought Poland and again Italy in the ship of Folkearth. Some of them were also members of bands such as Zrymgöll and Void.

The second acoustic and therefore tenth album of Folkearth “Minstrels by the River” was released in September 2011. The line-up counted 13 musicians from 8 countries, including this time also Russia and members from bands such as Morne.

The eleventh album "Valhalla Ascendant" was released in November 2012. This album represented the beginning of a new era for Folkearth, since the presence of a more solid line-up (counting 14 musicians from 11 countries) resulted in a more polished sound along with an improved production work.

The twelfth album "Balder's Lament" was released in the beginning of 2014 by the same line-up.

Thanks to the band for all the details above.
