KALEVALA : Worlds End Inn EP reviewed

1. The foggy dew
you folks may know that song...or mainly ones into celtic folk XD. Here is the track sung only. but what a beautiful voice! the CD starts pretty well! no wrong note in the voice. Beautful. Plus I love that song in all.

2.Worlds end inn
A track for folk metalheads!^^ we feel like wanna dance over the main riff & solo. Rock n roll voice. The background vocals parts to the end made the song a wee poprock... but if your eclectic, then you'll see its a good song!

3. Heritage cry
Epic intro somewhere, voice kinda bluesy/hard and so powerful - very nice! The music sounds kinda hard/celtic - pretty cool mix imo. Sometimes his voice reminds me Angelique Kidjo but male version^^, not sure you folks know her but thats world music. I like her pretty much. I think if you like deep purple, acdc, folkstone, turisas, korpiklaani, you'll like that tune.

4. Faeerie
Ah! may be cool to play that on guitar! XD yeah you're not bored.:)The singing sounds kinda "grungy" for me right now, wonder why Razz flutes go well there. Them all sounds like professional, guitars, voice, drums... before it sounded kinda celtic/hard/heavy but at 1.07 its a part for ensiferumania then turning kinda power metal & phew power voice again!. 2.36 the rythmic reminds Finntroll and their first track from their last...but it has nothing to do with Finntroll, so far.. but goes pretty fine after the powerful voice part ah a medieval part over it. sweet. Around 3.50 guitars reminds me Primus (big brown beaver) lol funny & even more fun next the piano! 4.12 heres is mess or a hell..sounding grungy (voice), then heavy, then like the Doors then power (all) ...in fact, thats a crazy band! lol

5. The foggy dew
sung only. its calm you down after all the fury at least! lol
but how beautiful!

6. My ballad for pilgrims an' crows
Celtic Metal here. Beautiful. To be listened.
They have a way... Celtic/Hard/Metal very good that change.

7. Skrimshander
Celtic Metal. powerful voice. Another nice song 4.10 about, nice instr wonder if not a cittern we can hear too. omg folk instr, electric instr & voice are great. don't know what to say... (congrats for sure!)

8. Theoden speech
good intro, spoken words on first verse & calm but nice guitar awhile. Then the raged distorted guitar invits that calm one in an arena then phew its sounds like wars between guitars (sweet^^) appearently, the calm guitar lost the battle but the windy instr are making its tribute. Razz
The voice comes in harmony with all instruments (still alive).
But from the lyrics "let me earn some pride" indeed BE PROUD! everything is well made, well played and beautiful. Silly.

9. The foggy dew
Again. it sounds like the recorded song is cut in 3 parts. I guess covering a Mother love bone song shouldn't be a problem for them thinking to those guitars from Faeries & the powerful voice from Heritage cry. They mainly go thru hard, heavy, power & celtic. And I think all those together go fine & are a nice mix. Shame they're not more known. its changes a little from others. its another way, their own way. They sound like professionals people. Somedays, I'd wish to hear their full version (no cuts) of the foggy dew with instru. Well, have a listen, thats one very good cd.

PS: The foggy dew tracks aren't mention in the tracklist but since I knew the song... :)
