What do you know about ALPHAYN ?

ALPHAYN is Heathen metal band founded in 2013 and Robert Schroll from HEATHEN FORAY takes part of the ALPHAYN adventure too!

So, how sounds ALPHAYN in the end?
ALPHAYN music sounds like this :

They will release their debut album in a few days, but don't worry folks,
I will remind you! :)

Do you remember that last year, I interviewed Robert regarding is other band that everyone should know (you are truly missing something if you don't!). but this year was the turn for ALPHAYN to be interviewed by my own :

01. Hello Alphayn! First of all, why have you chosen ALPHAYN as band name ?
For a long time, we didn’t have any name for the band and not much of a clue what’d be fitting. So we decided to hunker down in a little pub and refrain from going to the bar and getting ourselves some beer until we had decided on a name. Alphayn actually consists of two words: “Alp” and “Hayn”. “Alp” is meant to to show our connection to Austria (by way of including the Alps), but also to infer ties with the Albs (or, if you will, Alfar/Elves). The second part, “Hayn”, was added by Robert and together with the former equals Elf’s Wood or Wood of Nightmare. To be honest, we’ve grown fond of people racking their brains where our name is concerned.

02. How have you all met ?
The original idea for the band came from out lead-guitarist Hias and our former second guitarist René, who joined together to write the first songs and formed the foundation for what would become Alphayn. Robert and Andi joined up via a page where bands could search for new members, so we were set regarding guitars and vocals. At a “Heathen Foray” concert in Graz , Ralf met Robert at a barricade which was right in the way of the path to the aforementioned concert. An old aircraft bomb had been discovered during excavations at Graz’s main square. So the two of them had to sneak through to get to the concert – Robert really had to, since he was to sing for “Heathen Foray” there. Later on, back in Vienna, Robert and Ralf got talking about the band, and since they were still lacking a drummer, Ralf introduced them to Cari (aka Käpt’n) who promptly joined. Later still, René left the band and Ralf joined up as second guitarist. That’s about it.

03. Soon will be released your debut album entitled “Heimkehr”. How did the recordings happen ?
Very relaxed, and at a buddy’s of ours: Marco Cudan at Origin Audio.

04. Some things seem to be opposed in your songs such as Polytheism versus Monotheism, Nature versus Hi-Tech... Do you have a message to tell to the people ?
Mainly to never stop thinking for themselves. Life is about more than just black and white: You gotta read between the lines.

05. It seems that you want to show also the limits of “Freedom” with this record. What is your point of view on that interesting Philosophy topic ?
Freedom is the most valuable thing in the world, and it is every person’s right to reach out and take it.

06. By reading the themes of your songs for “Heimkehr” album, some of them remind me that movie “A.I. Artificial Intelligence” by Steven Spielberg where human beings and androids live together in a flooded NYC because global warming. Do you think A.I. is something good ? Do you worry how this could turn Earth because global warming, or live under laws, orders from machines ?
We’re too far removed still from the development of true artificial intelligence to be able to label it either good or evil, no? Mind you, we’re not really concerned with that subject at all. The one song you’re alluding to, “Maschinenmonster”, is really about how we’re not agreeing with the way humanity as a whole is headed.

07. Do you think all these high-tech lobbies could be trapped together with the other humans by their creations ?
Doesn’t really matter, does it? The zombie apocalypse is gonna hit us well before that.

08. Can we know the release date for “Heimkehr” ?
Remember, remember, the 30th of September!

09. Where will the record be available ?
At http://alphayn.bandcamp.com, directly via walking up to one of the band members and asking, or at one of our gigs!

10. What do you plan promoting this record ?
By way of gigs, reviews or our social networking sites.

11. Can you do your live report of your first concert, from the stage view ?
Funnily enough, the headliner of that evening didn’t want to play in the slot usually reserved for a headliner – meaning the last one – so that kinda, sorta made of the headliner of our first gig. All in all, we’ve got nothing but cool memories of that night.

12. This November 15th will be your next gig, what do you expect ?
We’re really looking forward to it, seeing as how we’ll finally be able to rock out alongside likeminded bands again.

13. What are the future plans for ALPHAYN ?
Next, we’d like to concentrate on playing abroad – though only the future will tell, we suppose. We’re living in the here and now.

14. Do you search for a label ?
Not really, but we’re not averse to joining one, if the deal appeals to us.

15. Do you have some words for the Community of Sword Chant and all the readers ?
Support your local metal scene, enjoy the music and ROCK ON!

Thanks for the interview, Nordri, Nikar, HiasAlphayn and the full ALPHAYN line-up. :)
