Nature "张天然" Ganganbaigal was a brillant and talended artist, with his band Tengger Cavalry , with the  NYU orchestra ... He was also a nice film and video game music composer .  I had honour to interview him back in 2015 but today, I learn he passed away on June 13th, 2019. That's with heavy heart I share the sad news. . Today, Patrick Reilly guitar player of the band, told the following to Metal Sucks zine : “we grew suspicious when he did not show up for a pre-show rehearsal last weekend. We also had a video shoot scheduled, so for him to miss that was a cause for suspicion.” The band “had been collaborating with friends of his in Austin since that time.” Today, authorities informed the band that they found Nature’s body on June 13. First of all… How did the idea to found a band like TENGGER CAVALRY come to you ? When I heard those amazing folk metal bands in Europe, I was blow away by the magic of the sound. Eluveitie combines Celtic folk with heavy metal; Turisas combines Viking folk with epic metal. I just love the idea of incorporating traditional folk tune with heavy metal. So I was thinking, I want to blend Mongolian traditional music with it to create an epic image of Genghis Khan’s cavalry! 02. Can you tell us your musical path ? I started as a guitarist in local metal bands in Beijing. And then I studied Mongolian horsehead fiddle and throat singing with several Mongolian musicians. I started Tengger Cavalry in late 2009 and early 2010. Now I am in New York studying Film Music Composition

In this new recording you will hear the band's modern sound developed from our last album Ancient Call (2014) along with the very primal and rough sound of TENGGER CAVALRY in 2009, which had a strong sense of ancient ritual.

Metal Hell Records shared the following TENGGER CAVALRY news on their website: Beijing / NYC – Mongolian folk metal band TENGGER CAVALRY is re-recording their demo album Blood Sacrifice Shaman with all new folk instrumentation for official worldwide release on Metal Hell Records in 2015. Currently all principal recordings have been completed and the album will soon enter the post production & mixing stage.  The title, concept and artwork of this album reflects the philosophy of ancient shamanism. Shamanism is the earliest religion in human history, which exalts nature, the grassland, forest and animals. A shaman is a person with the wisdom to understand nature, they could travel to the heavens to communicate with the gods of the wild. Blood sacrifice is one of the most primal forms of sacrifice, with the offering an animal’s blood to the sky father to show veneration.
