SATANAKOZEL explains a bit the current situation inside the band. These are his words:
It is time to talk a little bit about the stuff going on with SatanaKozel. Jokes aside, things are rather serious. So, in a couple of words…
1. The new SK album.
At the moment, nearly all instrumentals, folk instruments and vocals parts are recorded. The matter is complicated by a distance of 400 kilometers one side, which you have to travel to reach a remote Karelian village, where Vasily Kozlov, the guitar player and the frontman of the SK lives with his family. It is impossible to come there and record all at once because we all have our daily jobs, but it also turns out to be problematic to bring Vasily to the city – he can’t leave his farm for too long. Therefore, every 3-4 months, agreeing on days off, we go to the village with all the recording equipment for 3-4 days to get everything done. The next village recording session will most likely take place next year. Alas ... That’s how the composed and arranged material scrapes its way to become the third SK full-length album.
Recently there have been a lot of questions on who will do the vocals for the new album. In our phone conversations Vasya complains on the lack of the singing practice and, as a consequence, on a weak growl, but he promises to rehearse. Yet it is possible that a different person will sing for this album. It is not serious to give a specific release date for the album in a situation like that, because we do not know when we're ready. And as for the questions like "what takes you so long?”, I want to answer with a proverb - haste makes waste. Punching out albums once a year is not our method.
2. Vasily.
It has been 2 years since Vasily moved to the village. Even back then it was obvious that most likely he won’t be able to continue his work as leader of the SK. It can be said with a high probability that the SK's third album will be the last for him. There are two reasons for that. The first one - his personal desire and choice. It takes too much time to maintain a family, a child and a farm. Creativity suffers badly. So concerts and tours are out of the question. The second reason is already known - the distance and free time which neither we, neither our good friend has. In any case, we’ll report on his decision to stay or go.
3. The future.
Even though Vasily can, we underline, possibly leave us, the band will remain active. Don’t forget, friends, that music of SatanaKozel is the result of collective work, despite the fact that there’s only one author. Perhaps it will be a different SK, for instead of one author there will be three with similar, but still different ideas. Perhaps Vasily will continue to cooperate with the SK as a co-songwriter. Time will tell. As for the concerts, our plans include a small Russian tour and a tour to the Baltic states. So far, it all depends on the organizers. It’s quite expensive to bring a band from Karelia to this or that city. The question of who will do the vocals for SatanaKozel in the future remains open.
